How to Get Answers to Chemistry Questions

Students often ask, How do I get answers to chemistry questions online? There are several ways to both find the answers yourself and to ask chemistry questions and get answers. Find out how to go about it below. Ask Chemistry Questions and Get Answers If you have a question you need to be answered quickly, your best bet is to go to an active online chemistry forum or even to ask the question on an active Facebook page about chemistry. Here are some options you can try: About Chemistry on Facebook: This is the Facebook page for the About.com Chemistry site (now ThoughtCo Chemistry). You can post a question, which will be viewed by other people interested in chemistry who can respond.Ask a Chemistry Question—Yahoo Answers: The upside of using Yahoo Answers is that you might actually find the answer to the exact problem youre trying to solve. The downside is that some of the people attempting to answer questions are either students or not very well informed. You can usually at least get a good idea of how to approach a problem on this forum. Although, at other times, youll get snarky non-answers.AssignmentExpert—Pay for Answers or Assignment Help: This site offers just under ten thousand free answers to homework questions. You can search for what you need or use their form to email your question. You get 1,024 characters of space to ask a question. The site promises to charge a fair rate to answer each question, however, it doesnt disclo se how much it actually costs. Dont forget to try other forms of social media. For example, you can ask a question on Twitter and may get a response (be sure to use the #chemistry hashtag for more visibility). You can use Facebook to find classmates. Message them and see if they know the answer to your question. Consider using social media to set up a study group if you have multiple questions. Search Answer and Worked Problems Chances are, if you have a question or a problem, someone else has asked it or at least has asked a similar question. If you cant get a live person to answer your question, then the next best thing is to search for the question and answer. My recommendation to you is to type your exact question into Google or another search engine and see what you get. You might get lucky! If your search is too specific, you can always make it more general until you get answers. Here are some online sites that offer worked problems and answer chemistry questions: Worked General Chemistry Problems: This is Thoughtcos collection of chemistry problems and examples, with links to review the subject matter.General Chemistry Questions and Answers (from Ask Antoine, a chemistry prof):Â  Antoine is an actual chemist. His answers are on point. He hasnt added to his list of topics in some time, but rest assured the information is accurate.Chegg Answers to Chemistry Questions (General, Organic, Chem Engineering, etc.): Chegg is a top-notch site. However, they are also a paywall site, which means you cant get anything for free. If youre struggling with chemistry but need comprehensive help, it might be worth buying a subscription.Answers to Chemistry Questions That You Should Know: This is a collection of answers to common general questions. Its useful if youre wondering how everyday phenomena work or are trying to explain a complex topic to someone else.Answers.com Chemistry Answers: As with Yahoo Answers, your mileage may vary with Answers.com. Someti mes a competent person answers a question. Other times, not so much. Use this site to learn how to approach a problem, but dont always trust the answer.Science Notes: This is my personal site, which includes additional examples and problems not covered by ThoughtCo. Use the search bar to seek an example. If you dont find what you need, send me an email and Ill try to add the problem. There are other sites that may show up on search. Quora is even more likely to give you a wrong answer (blind leading the blind) than Yahoo, Answers.com, or Ask.com. Khan Academy is factual but unlikely to help unless youre studying very basic chemistry. Tips for Success If Google cant find help for your problem, your best bet is to call or message a classmate or instructor or find one of these resources in person. Visit your instructor during office hours, call/text him or her, or email questions. Remember to follow up. You cant simply rely on email or posting questions to websites because the turnaround time (days, weeks, never) may be longer than you have.

Today libraries are essential for the school, colleges, and universities because it has more impact on the student’s achievement. Now students are showing more willingness to collecting more information which is helpful or useful for the students in their achievement. In this way or providing more libraries in the institutions is also enhancing the students and teachers. By, getting more valid information related to a subject which helps the students to be more confident about their works. In this public can spend more time in getting knowledge. In library, there are sufficient books, magazines, CD’s which are very supportive in collecting information and computers in library are very essential part of library because of as per need and requirement of the students. 1. 1 Background to the study: It has been said that books are the friends of a person. They provide to the reader with in insight knowledge and polishes his being. This research study is providing an overview or evidence that how libraries support student’s learning and findings based on the quantitative students survey responses. Historically, public libraries have a strong tradition in Anglo-American societies. Libraries were first introduced in North American societies. And now libraries are the essential part of any society or any institute. Todd and kuhlthau describe that the study on the impact of library on student’s achievement is the duplication of the United States study in 2003, students through Ohio school libraries, and this research is conducted by the center for international scholarship in school libraries at Rutgers, The state university of New Jersey (as cited in Lyn Hay, 2004). In recent years a great deal of activity in libraries has been dedicated to design, implementation and improvement of the library. Many of the library providing to the student’s online access catalogs (OPAC’s). It is also providing access to the internet journals holding and enable outside user to decide that which journals are hold by the library and what are the search engines (Moore, 2000). Furthermore, â€Å"any library program in which if there is sufficient staff, enough resources and adequately equipped so, in this way students can easily access to the achievement in spite of socioeconomic and education levels of community† (school libraries work! 2004, p. 6). Library history was an accepted discipline at library in every developed country. Now days with the enhancement of the information technology public can easily access to whatever they want related to their subject. People were rarely attending the library, some time facilitators or professors became the mean of information regardless of the library. Many of the authors has already been done in researching the history of the libr ary but there is abundance of scope for more (Harrison, why library history? ) In additional, in this era library is the essential part of any institution because people are used to searching in a peaceful environment and where is the enough verities of books, magazines, articles and a lot of general knowledge. 1. 2 Statement of the Problem: Most likely, students are interested in the positive learning environment that supports students learning. Libraries are playing most important role in the achievement of the student. Gradually, student success is in the achieving a good grades and library many time help a student for borrowing a books and related items. The positive and peaceful environment of the library attracts the learner’s attention towards achievement. We need to know that how library is playing a good role in student’s performance and success. 1. 3 Objective of the Study: The objective of my research project is to find out the impact of library on the student’s achievement and how students are getting the library as a useful and helpful for them in achieving their targeted goal or to know the student’s interest and extra reading habit. Through this study we can determine the factor which helps good reader and poor reader. 1. 4 Research Questions: i) In the perception of students what role libraries plays in academic and social life? (ii) How the libraries are helpful in acquiring command over knowledge and implementing in practical life? 1. 5 Significance of the Study: The significance of the study is to examine the importance of library in institutions for the students in their success. This study determine the student’s perception about the libraries importance and it is also help to understand that in recent years library has become very necessary for students in aspect of providing facilities, valid information and sufficient knowledge related to any subject. As more time is spent in using internet and social gathering students have no more extra reading habits. 1. 6 Limitations and Delimitations of the Study: This study is limited to the students of universities in Karachi. The limited respondents of the research are about 45 almost. This study is restricted to complete in a given time period. This is an academic research only. 1. 7 Related to Literature Review: The review is taking on the behalf of previous research of Australian school library Association. It was conducted in time period of four weeks November and December 2004. This study was about the relationship between libraries and student’s achievement. Williams and Wavell stated that some understanding is necessary to express the value of school library, this review also demonstrate the true findings and implications (Chan, 2008). In the previous researches this study shows the positive relationship between school libraries and student’s academic achievement. It is the fact that so many studies, in surroundings thousands of schools and universities are providing a persuasive evidence for the value of libraries (Cahn, 2008). In the united sates the Australian librarian becomes a â€Å"library media specialist† and in England and Scotland, the traditionally role of librarian does not include. Reynolds and Carroll (2001) stated that a librarian is a specialist in a special class room, who needs to be very experienced and expert and must have specialist teacher librarianship training. The term specialist, library teacher or library professional is used to avoid the confusion or determine the staff of the library (as cited in Lonsdale, 2003). According to the Lance (2001a), Lance notice that Alaska is the first study that verifies the importance of the library teacher as a teacher of information, literacy and their impact on the student’s achievement (as cited in Lonsdale, 2003). This study is so far conducted to show the benefits of the school libraries where the students have positive and involved environment for increasing the reading habits and getting the most possible benefits closest to their achievement by comparing the results of those schools where libraries are non-existence. Since 2000, ten major studies (in Alaska, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Texas, Oregon, Massachusetts, Scotland, Michigan, Iowa and New Mexico) have observed the positive impact of libraries on student’s achievement. Particularly, the huge part of the research has been taken in the united sates (Lonsdale, 2003). The authors of Colorado study applied their methodology across different states of USA. In a study performed in Alaska, it was found that librarians are the information empowered†, because librarians are playing three roles they are teachers, information specialist and administrators who motivated or empowers the students and others teachers to gather the more and more information and meet academic achievement (Lance, Hamilton-Pennell Rodney, 1999). Furthermore, libraries are playing most important role in providing the broad range of reading resources and for those students who cannot afford to buy new reading materials day by day and for those parents who cannot prov ide their children such range of reading materials. Libraries are without any paying or free of cost facilitating those who have strong reading habits. If literacy is not placed in the perfect structure and if newly obtained literacy skills will not frequently used and improved, so there are more chances that literacy skills can b convert in illiteracy in this way the huge participation in educational institutes will be wasted. Singh (2003) points out the importance of the library in the literacy level and achievement of students â€Å"most of the libraries are not providing support to the neo literate, unless they are provided the effective support to provide to the readers an effective reading materials otherwise they may again fall in the category of illiterates. Library is playing a vital role in providing learning and reading materials† (Singh, 2003) Obviously, it is much better to have a single set of books in a classroom rather than to have nothing. In order to improve or to enhance the reading habit among students, for this they must have to provide a wide range of attractive reading materials. These needs should b changed time to time to keep the interest of the students. Alternatives models should b designed to enhance the library based resources. Library models that provide verities of books are very popular among the students. According to Krolak, libraries are the perfect place that provides to students an effective and attractive environment. They have easy access to the run their needs related to reading habits. A successful library has number of books, newspaper, audio and videos, magazines etc. Mostly libraries are centrally located and easily accessible by the students and general public. Libraries are the place which provides very friendly and peaceful environment, with services oriented and all the time available with qualified staff. Some students have bad memories of schools and have negative attitude towards study. They are encouraged to come libraries and enjoy the non-reading activities to watch videos and to join the discussion groups, it would be the first step to back to the study (Krolak, 2005). Moreover, Lance et al. (1999) using three analytical techniques i. e. cross tabulation, comparison of means, correlation. Library media program are characterized as a predictor of academic achievement. It is also examined that might be indirect effect on academic achievement. After evaluating the direct and indirect effects of librarians on student’s academic achievement. Perhaps, the important factor that affects the impact of libraries on student’s achievement is correlation of the libraries and librarian that is explosion of the information. Particularly, this relationship is based on digital resources. If there would be a quality of digital or media resources students or general public can be more interested in study, or this much information would be available on internet in this way the role of library even become more important than in the past (Lonsdale, 2003) Henri (1999) described the term â€Å"information literature school communities† as an admittedly unclear collection of the factors, attributes, goals are necessary in an environment in which focus is on the learning and that unclearness is due to the complexity of school communities and developing the nature of literacy information. As a result, it is most likely that literacy information cannot be concise because it is more like a large version. This has implication on the development programs (as cited in Moore). In addition, libraries are being most important in terms of supporting literacy and they may also play a role in the development of the society. It is stated that: The freedom to read is essential in our country’s democracy. But it is continuously under pressure and for this private sectors and public authorities are doing many efforts to removing the barriers in the reading society or to remove the limit access to reading materials. To increase or edit the contents in schools to label the controversial views, to make the list of the most important books and authors and to clean the libraries. Then, some actions apparently rise from a view that these efforts are not valid; that the editing and containment are needed to counter the threats to safely or national security, to remove the rebellion of the politics and corruption of ethics. We as individual need to stand up for this and as librarian and publishers it is the responsibility that they need to come up with the new and disseminating ideas. And they wish to declare the public interest in preserving the freedom to read. (Alabama’s school library media handbook for the 21st century learner, section 1, p. 3) Moreover, libraries are more essential 1. 8 Research Methodology: There are two kinds of methodology, one is quantitative and other is qualitative. Quantitative or qualitative research selection determines the method is to be applied to analyze data (Dawson, 2002). in this study, â€Å"quantitative methodology† will be use because it will collect, analyze and interpret data by recording statistical data. This study will conducted in over Karachi through the questionnaire survey and the aim is to make specific from generalization based on study of few variables those will b examined through closed-ended questionnaire. Those outcomes will be explored, analyzed and discovered after identification of the factors from researches. 1. 9 Sampling Technique: Sampling is an important element to consider with respect of time saving with tight deadlines to meet. As there are few people involved in this study so the data can be organized in so suitable and manageable way. Results will be available quickly as sample is relatively small. Selection of sample involves deciding which technique is appropriate in order to select more good. Mainly, there are two basic sampling techniques which are sampling technique and non-probability technique. In probability sampling technique each member of population has equal chance of selection. On the other hand, non-probability defines that the selection is unknown. In this study, non-probability technique is using and under non-probability technique convenience sampling is considered and 50 respondents participated in the survey. . 10 Research Instrument: Data collection through questionnaire has advantages to some extent over other methods. As this study is based on quantitative methodology so the instrument will must n questionnaire. Questionnaire can construct in three types i. e. open-ended, closed-ended and mixture of both (Dawson, 2002). Questionnaire is consisting on set of statements against respondents were asked to mark only one option. 1. 11 Instrument’s Reliability: 1. 12 Ethical Consideration: In any research, most importance and consideration is given to ethics. In formation of questionnaire, care was taken to ensure that question that asked were simple and straightforward. As far as possible, ambiguity of question asked were avoided. Questions that required more clarity were so modified to provide simple and precise meaning. The respondents should be must participate voluntary and all the respondents have right to withdraw from study anytime and no researcher is allowed to force their respondent to participate. Conceptions Of Divorce Essays - Divorce, Family Law,

Conceptions Of Divorce Conceptions of Divorce Is marriage no more than the result of voluntary agreements between two private individuals? Is the lack of detail concerning marriage arrangements causing all the divorce debates? Does divorce cause problems or solve them? Why is marriage such a religious experience and divorce such a legal experience? Why do marriages take place under the eyes of God while divorces take place under the eyes of the law? I believe that it was because of my parents' divorce that I have chosen to tackle such a controversial topic. In many ways, I am in search of my own opinion. My parents divorced through the no-fault system. My dad decided it was time to move on to another life I guess. The no-fault divorce is a form of divorce granted without blame being sought or established. Sometimes, I try to think of how my life would have turned out if they were still together. I wonder if life would be any better. However, there are other days when I thank God for putting me through such troubling times; without them, I wouldn't be where I am today. What troubles me with marriage/divorce issues is that one is dealt with while the other lies on the floor. Today, we discuss marriage, and we discuss divorce, but never both at the same time. Should we push premarital counseling, or should we make divorce harder? Why must we discuss one or the other and not both? There are so many questions concerning marriage and divorce, and that is why I'm writing to you. I hope to answer some questions you may have. Though you may not form an opinion about no-fault divorce, you should finish this article with a little satisfaction, knowing that you've seen both sides of the issue. There are many people who have spoken out about no-fault divorce and family relationships, but I will focus on two. In The Divorce Debate, Maggie Gallagher, a scholar at the Institute for American Values, tries to answer the question: What, if anything, can we do about the fact that at least half of our marriages fail? In another article, The Making of a Divorce Culture, Barbara Dafoe Whitehead discusses the idea that, Divorce has become an American way of life only as a result of recent and revolutionary change. I was very turned-off by Gallagher's article. First, it starts off with what the author thinks should be a shared assumption; the assumption stated that divorce is harmful for children. Not everyone believes that. She goes on by asking, What......can we do? Gallagher continues with her article by putting down other states because of their divorce stipulations. She says that they are not working. Yes, she did back that statement up with information from Judith Wallerstein's book, Second Chance, and statistics from the Journal of Marriage and Family, but they were buried between the many instances in which she shared the views of her opposition. The way she recognized the reasoning behind the speedy spouse disposal or delayed backlash was a nice touch. Unfortunately, Gallagher was so involved with trying to show the other side of things, she forgot to give the reasoning behind her own ideas. Through the entire article, she used negative words or phrases to express her feelings on divorce; they include: harmful, delayed backlash, speedy spouse removal, eliminating, marital wrongdoing, dissolve a marriage, bitter conflict, unhappy marriages, bleak times, punishments, messy and irrelevant, and torment. However, she never once suggested a solution for the problem of divorce. How can one argue with the ideas of others, if that person has no argument of their own? After reading the article, I was pretty confident that the author had not personally been through a divorce of her own. This alone, caused me to question her. I felt that a more personal article involving some of her own experiences would have been more convincing. I realized that she was writing with a logical approach, but I believe an emotional one would have been better. Divorce is a topic that touches every person in so many different ways. If the article would have reached to the heart, it would have been more persuasive. Though I am

hypocracy of american slavery essays

hypocracy of american slavery essays "The white man's happiness cannot be purchased by the black man's misery." -Fredrick Douglass, The North Star His point was clear, all those years ago. As Fredrick Douglass presented his thoughts in front of the citizens of Rochester in 1852; they came expecting to hear a proclamation of national greatness, a celebration of liberty on the fourth of July. Instead, they heard a stirring denunciation of slavery and the white American way of life. Ex-Slave, Fredrick Douglass was asked by local leaders to deliver a speech as part of their Fourth of July celebration in front of a crowd whose majority was undoubtedly white.(Wheeler) They most likely approved of slavery possibly even owning slaves themselves.(Payne) Little did they know that Douglass was preparing to use this opportunity to let White America know that this is a celebration of white independence, not Black independence. He let them know that the "white" Fourth of July has a completely different meaning to the Negro men and women who still have not gained their independence from the white Americans who now celebrate theirs. The phrase "all men are created equal"(constitution) to these men and women seems to be a blatant lie, and Douglas is able to take this opportunity to bring this to the audience's attention. Douglass is doing many things with is phrasing in this speech. He is both accusing his audience, and informing them. He is also both arguing, and persuading them. He accomplishes this feat by using clear cut and undeniable logic. His main arguments against slavery consisted of two very simple principals. First, he says that Black men are not animals and do not deserve to be treated as such.(Williams) He says that when we are "unable to distinguish the slave from a brute, then I will argue with you that the slave is a man!"(Douglass) Second, he states that if Black and White men al ...

Evaluate for a case Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Evaluate for a case - Essay Example In addition, the reason for locating new blood donors, while taking help of medical consultants, was the loss in business, which Plasma International could foresee, due to the above-mentioned reason. However, Plasma tried to exploit the new donors, which were innocent tribal people who wanted to sell their blood for money. The whole issue came to surface due to discovery of the scam by a Tampa paper. According to its reports, Plasma made millions of Dollars in little time, by buying cheap blood and selling the same to needy patients in United States at exorbitant prices. The treatment of blood as a commodity in United States is vastly different from the system of blood supply followed in Britain, where the National Health Service entirely depends on voluntary donors. According to theory of Capitalism, capitalist theories stress on the fundamental issue of profit motivation in any business venture. Although the theory of capitalism may apply to the business style of Plasma International, it goes beyond doubt that the whole business did not follow any moral ethics. According to theory of Utilitarianism, the business motive should be to bring maximum good to optimum number of people. However, in this case, the benefit has gone only to Plasma International and none else, as both blood donors and receivers were cheated by the company. Kantian theory has application for British model of treating blood as a human need, instead of trading it as any other commodity. Hence, system followed in Britain certainly has several advantages, over the American system, particularly since human blood and lives are involved. This theory relates to getting satisfactory fulfillment of human needs by employing voluntary means. At the same time, the theory underlines the fact that one’s actions or thinking should not interfere in the freedom of others. Human needs, for this

My Life in the United States Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

My Life in the United States - Essay Example My father called one of his friends who was studying at the US and enquired about the university in which he was studying. In 2009, I came to the US. I began studies in English Language Program at VCU and this was because I was not a native speaker of English. After that, I improved on my English as a second language day by day. When I was in ELP, I had difficulties in two classes, these were Listening and Reading, but despite this, I performed well in the tests. While in ESL, I met new students from different countries and I had a great time with them. My professors were also understanding and helpful, making my learning much easier. At the Fall semester in 2011, I completed my English Language Program. Since then, I have registered 16 credits which are Public Health, LS 100, ESL Reading, Mass media and ESL Communication. These classes make me confused, considering the fact that this is my first time as an academic student in my whole life. I found this semester to be hard and confusing at the beginning. This is because some teachers speak very fast and I find it hard to take notes in class. However, I believe that as the days go by, it is going to get easier and normal for me. Besides, I have to concentrate on what I came to do in this institution. In addition, UMU is a great university and the professors are going to teach me what I have to learn. I hope that my classmates and I will get good grades in all our classes. I believe in my father's famous quote that says, †would never reach your goal without difficulties.†

A Report On Leadership: Abraham Lincoln

A Report On Leadership: Abraham Lincoln In 1841 Lincoln married to Mary Todd and he had two children Robert Todd Lincoln and Edward Barker Lincoln. Edward Barker Lincoln died because of tuberculosis and then there was a birth of Willie, even Willie died of a fever. Then Lincolns fourth son Tad was born and outlived his father, but even he also died at the age of 18. This made him upset a lot and he also suffered from clinical depression. Lincoln was successful in becoming the President of United States in 1860. Being a president he concentrated on the military and political dimension of the war, he was always trying to reunify the nation because of doing this he experienced unprecedented war powers. Lincoln closely supervised the war especially in selecting the top generals, he brought leaders of both different parties into is cabinet and pressured them to coordinate. Under the leadership of Lincoln the union took control of board of slave states at begin of the war to capture confederated capital at Richmond and he was succeeded in 1865. As the leader of Republican Party, he was attacked from all sides few people were seeing him as an enemy. Lincoln fought back strongly. After the surrender by confederate army he became victim to an assassin. He was the first president to suffer such a fate. The journey to his destination was filled with hurdles and sorrows. But this road to success would definitely remain inspirational to anybody who would aspire to become a leader. Lincoln entered into the political world and soon became a much loved among Republicans and nominated Lincoln as a candidate for president. Through a series of events, a once illiterate individual became the most powerful person in the U.S Those were the days which had in store for this aspired leader a bag of failures. He failed in business, lost election to the state legislature, speaker of the house, nomination for congress, appointment of land officer, twice to the US senate and nomination for vice president. These failures would have left any person other than Lincoln disheartened and de motivated. But the commendable part of this great man is that it was after all these failures he was elected as a president of the nation which is walking with its head high even to this day. He played a significant role during the civil war in ending slavery and in unifying the nation. At the time of American Revolution there were 1 million African slaves in the colonies, agriculture economy was largely dependent on their labor. Anybody who wanted to end slavery would not take any step towards it because slavery was the key to producing cotton which led to industrial revolution and capitalization. Karl Marx then wrote without slavery, there would be no cotton, without cotton there would be no modern industry. The American Civil War which broke out in the year 1861 was the front seat for Lincoln towards abolition of slavery and turning the union army into the army of liberation. He enforced emancipation proclamation in 1865 in southern states where blacks and slavery formed a major part. Lincoln was forced to withdraw emancipation by his Republican Party members with a fear that he would not be re-elected. Adhering to his decision he said if ever he would withdraw then he should deserve to be damned in time and eternity. He was of the opinion that if slavery is not wrong then nothing is wrong. The major effect of emancipation was on the northern whites esp. soldiers of union army. He was successful in bringing one black in every 10 soldiers thereby creating and enlarging their space among the whites. What started as a war to preserve the Union now became a battle to end slavery. Approximately two hundred thousand African Americans fought for the Union cause. In American history no president ever faced a greater crisis and no President ever accomplished as much Lincoln did. Abraham Lincoln understood that for the U.S. to be a great nation, it required to be united and should be free from the sins of slavery. A moral nation that boasts life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all cannot be masters of human beings. With an iron resolve, patience and careful timing, Lincoln gave back an America that was indeed free and whole. It is in this due course that he starts understanding his own needs and characteristics and also of the fellow participants. In the mean time he builds confidence and trust among his team mates. Being a leader doesnt mean doing it all by yourself to prove your capability on the task, it is controlling the group and leading them in the right direction. A group works together can be best when everybody is headed in the same direction. If a plan has to be properly carried out somebody must lead the effort. An effective leader is a one, who has following qualities. Creating an inspiring vision of future. Inspiring and motivating people towards that vision. Managing delivery of vision. Coaches and builds a team to achieve that vision. Creating an inspiring vision of future In any field a vision is practical, convincing and attractive illustration of where you want to be in the future. Vision provides direction in achieving it. Once there is a vision, leaders must make them compelling and realistic. A compelling vision is one that people can understand, feel and embrace the vision. Effective leaders are one who provides a rich picture of how the future looks like. They try to tell stories and explain their vision in the ways the people can understand and cope up with him. Inspiring and motivating people towards that vision. A vision provides the foundation for leadership, but its ability of the leaders to inspire and motivate the people to help them to drive the vision. Here the people respect and believe in leaders because these leaders are expert in what they do, because these leaders would have earned the right to ask people to listen to them and follow them. This helps leaders to inspire and motivate the people to achieve the vision. Managing delivery of vision This is where management comes to picture. (http://www.mindtools.com/pages/Newsletters/08Jun10.htm) Qualities that made Abraham Lincoln a great leader, where we have to look out in present day leaders are, Capacity to listen to different points of view Where, Lincoln had a capacity to listen to different points of view and he created a climate where the cabinet members were free to disagree without any fear and give their opinion. At the same time Lincoln knew when to stop the discussion and make the final decision, by taking various opinions from his cabinet members. Ability to learn on the job Lincoln was able to learn from is mistake, acknowledge errors and the move from it. Willingness to share credit for success When there was success Lincoln shared the credit with all members who were involved in it, without taking the credit of success to his own. Willingness to share blame for failure Lincoln spoke up and indicated that he and his entire cabinet were to blame in case of any wrong decision taken. Lincoln stood up for them, when there was a mistake made by his cabinet members. Ability to control emotions When he was working with his cabinet members sometimes he use get angry and frustrated when there was a argument or any bad decision, so he found a way to come out of these emotions. He use sit and write what he referred as hot letter to the individual he was angry with and set the letter aside. Lincoln fallowed this kind of gesture to let the individual know that he was not holing any grudge. Awareness of own weaknesses and strength Lincoln had known his weakness and strength, the weakness acknowledge by Lincoln was his tendency to give people too many chances as he was well aware of how to compensate to his weakness. Know to how to relax and replenish Lincoln always encouraged a healthy atmosphere around him. He understood the importance of relaxation and come out of stress of the day, so that he could concentrate and challenge himself to the next day. Go out into the field and manage directly When there was a civil war going on, many soldiers died and there was lot of ups and downs. Lincoln use to visit the battlefield and hospitals to boost their morale and he use to spend time talking to members of the public, taking their opinion. He always use to maintain a close public relation. Strength to adhere to fundamental goals Lincoln was always firm on his decision making. As when the war was not going well for the north, members of his political party came to Lincoln and said there was no chance to win and he need to give up on slavery. But Lincoln held firm on his decision and turned away from their advice. Ability to communicate goals and vision Abraham Lincoln understood that for the U.S. to be a great nation, it required to be united and should be free from the sins of slavery. He first created an inspiring vision and goals of the future and he was successful in inspiring and motivating the people in achieving that vision. Lincoln was very good in managing and delivery of the vision, he ensured that the vision what was in his mind is managed properly and ensured that the vision and goals are successful. LEADERSHIP ROLES Some of the important leadership roles which coexist in same person where he should be, The Exemplar or Alpha Member The Visionary The Fixer The Connecter The Enforcer The Facilitator The Exemplar or Alpha Member The exemplar or Alpha Member, they are the role models that others imitate. Their role may be just a symbolic even ceremonial but important. They are one who sets an example for others, they are successful and charismatic founders. The Visionary The visionary leader role is to have vision of the future and thinking what is limiting the present and show what will be possible in the future. The visionary leaders should always imagine new possibilities and creating a new facts and realities. Therefore these visionary leaders play a critical role in moving people to new directions. The Fixer The role of the fixer is, an individual who knows how to get things done and measure on not just how many people they know, but how they can get them done which others cannot. The Connector They are the network leaders, who participate in multiple social networks. They are connected not only with a large number of members but also with highly diverse number of members as well. These are the one who have numerous connections and contacts for being complete networkers. Somewhat like the visionary leaders they introduce variety and options into the network. The Enforcer In large networks it is an independent role. Enforcement can mean physical force, but its more often of psychological pressure. It is a very critical for overall network effectiveness. The Facilitator In the process of network to evolve and grow, it should able to add new members. The role of the facilitator is important in creating communities which provide a great form of network value. It resembles more of a community coordinator, which helps in development of communities of practice. This method is developed for helping to create and influence knowledge. Abraham Lincoln not only played an important role as an exemplar, visionary, connector, fixer, enforcer and facilitator during the civil war but also in the events preceding the war. Lincoln had to deal with issues of southern states seceding and also to outbreak of civil war. In conducting the civil war Lincoln had to successfully address array of specific and inter related issues, if union victory was to be attained. These include marshalling the American economy to meet the incredible war needs of several million soldiers, raising a citizens army of volunteers willing to be trained and die for the union, adopting war strategies for the union army, handling foreign affairs, and dealing with the problem of slavery without destroying the democratic freedoms upon which the nation was founded. As you can see Abraham Lincoln played quite an important role not just in one part of the Civil War but in a wide variety of areas. I believe that Lincolns dealings before and during the War not only changed the course of the United States but also saved it. (http://mybestessays.com/role-of-abraham-lincoln-in-civil-war/) CONCLUSION Abraham Lincolns story tells us that he was an incredible human being who started his life from nothing and went on to be a greatest U.S. president, he is one of the influential men in history. He is one of the finest examples of determination of doing something in life and achieving it. Although he faced countless defeats throughout his life, like he lost eight elections and also failed in business in many times. Because of this he could have quitted many times, but he dint. Instead, after each defeat he would come back hard and press forward until he achieved his goals. In American history no president ever faced a greater crisis and no President ever accomplished as much. Lincoln understood that for the U.S. to be a great nation, it needed to be united and free from the sins of slavery. A moral nation that boasts life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all cannot be masters of human beings. With an iron resolve, patience and careful timing, Lincoln gave back an America that was indeed free and whole. If we will have to make a note of what qualities of Lincoln have made him a leader whom people admire even after 200 years is the self confidence which he had that made him to surround himself by people better known than he was, his ability to absorb and listen to what people were thinking and feeling. He could see both the sides of any issue. He had the ability to acknowledge his errors, learn from mistakes, shoulder the responsibility and his never give up attitude for the failure. To evaluate talent as a leader some of those emotional strengths are equally important to actual success. As Peter Drucker said Leadership is the lifting of a mans vision to higher sights, the raising of a mans performance to a higher standard, the building of a mans personality beyond its normal limitations. (http://www.the-happy-manager.com/leadership-quotes.html) Abraham Lincoln proved himself by creating a status to all the 11 states freeing them from slavery lifting their visions up to a level equivalent to that of northern whites. Lincoln did not free the slaves, but the slavery had overcome because of the struggle and sacrifices of millions people Black as well as Whites. Here, Lincoln played an important role, he deserved to be remembered as one of the great struggles for freedom in history. (http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/3607.html) ABRAHAM LINCOLN Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809. He was the second child of Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Lincoln. When he was 9, his mother died and his father married to Sarah Bush Johnston. Lincoln became very close to her and uses to call her mother. Lincoln father was not very successful Kentucky frontiersman and carpenter, he has to struggle for living. Lincoln regretted his fathers lack of education and did not like the hard labor connected with is life. But he took all the responsibilities of home as he was the male in the house hold. In 1841 Lincoln married to Mary Todd and he had two children Robert Todd Lincoln and Edward Barker Lincoln. Edward Barker Lincoln died because of tuberculosis and then there was a birth of Willie, even Willie died of a fever. Then Lincolns fourth son Tad was born and outlived his father, but even he also died at the age of 18. This made him upset a lot and he also suffered from clinical depression. As the saying goes, any great personalities past life would not be a bed of roses; same was the case with this black president of US. The man with high imagination, who decided to engage in a head-to-head war for the survival of his country as a union, had a humble beginning. The poverty in the life of early Lincoln made himself educated rather being formally educated giving him a greater positive insight towards life. The fumes in early Lincoln against slavery was lit into fire by the time he attained his late teens and helped him begin his political career at an early age of 23 with a campaign for the Illinois General Assembly. He was the first president to suffer such a faith. The journey to his destination was filled with hurdles and sorrows. But this road to success would definitely remain inspirational to anybody who would aspire to become a leader. He entered into the political world and soon became a favorite among Republicans and nominated him as a candidate for president. Nearly two hundred thousand African Americans fought for the Union cause. No President in American history ever faced a greater crisis and no President ever accomplished as much. Ability to communicate goals and vision Abraham Lincoln understood that for the U.S. to be a great nation, it needed to be united and free from the sins of slavery. He first created an inspiring vision and goals of the future and he was successful in inspiring and motivating the people in achieving that vision. Lincoln was very good in managing and delivery of the vision, he ensured that the vision what was in his mind is managed properly and ensured that the vision and goals are successful. Iago as a Character in Othello :: essays papers

Iago as a Character in Othello Perhaps the most interesting and exotic character in the tragic play "Othello," by William Shakespeare, is "Honest" Iago. Through some carefully thought-out words and actions, Iago is able to manipulate others to do things in a way that benefits him and moves him closer toward his goals. He is the main driving force in this play, pushing Othello and everyone else towards their tragic end. Iago is not your ordinary villain. The role he plays is rather unique and complex, far from what one might expect. Iago is smart. He is an expert judge of people and their characters and uses this to his advantage. For example, he knows Roderigo is in love with Desdemona and figures that he would do anything to have her as his own. Iago says about Roderigo, "Thus do I ever make my fool my purse." [Act I, Scene III, Line 355] By playing on his hopes, Iago is able to swindle money and jewels from Roderigo, making himself a substantial profit, while using Roderigo to forward his other goals. He also thinks quick on his feet and is able to improvise whenever something unexpected occurs. When Cassio takes hold of Desdemona's hand before the arrival of the Moor Othello, Iago says, "With as little a web as this will I ensnare as great a fly as Cassio." [Act II, Scene I, Line 163] His cunning and craftiness make him a truly dastardly villain indeed. Being as smart as he is, Iago is quick to recognize the advantages of trust and uses it as a tool to forward his purposes. Throughout the story he is commonly known as, and commonly called, "Honest Iago." He even says of himself, "I am an honest man...." [Act II, Scene III, Line 245] Trust is a very powerful emotion that is easily abused. Othello, "holds [him] well;/The better shall [Iago's] purpose work on him." [pg. 1244, Line 362] Iago is a master of abuse in this case turning people's trust in him into tools to forward his own goals. His "med'cine works! Thus credulous fools are caught...." [pg. 1284, Line 44] Iago slowly poisons people's thoughts, creating ideas in their heads

Where Would I Be Without Freedom

I walk upon the earth and marvel at the ability to let the grass cushion my wandering feet. What if my feet could not wander What if I were a slave to this rich soil, then where would I be Society may not be controlled, and it may wander aimlessly perhaps, but it wanders on its own course. I walk with society and against it, and I have the freedom to do this. I would not be able to write such an essay if I didnt have my freedom. It is this freedom that allows me to write an essay differently from other people and is what has taken many others and me as far along in our journey. Freedom is the grass that cushions my step, the softness that allows me to tread anywhere without the fear of persecution. Without this layer of protection I would not want to stray far from what I know. Without protection from the corrupt world, I would remain the same immature child who could not walk far from what I could not see. Light liberates darkness the same as freedom liberates slaves. Darkness is the absence of light just as slavery is merely the absence of freedom. Without the light of this freedom I would be in the shadow of darkness; confined to the barren ignorant lands that light never reaches. Grass ceases to grow and life as I know it would be useless dead. The fire that burns within the soul is fueled by the sun, fueled by the liberation and freedom which allows us to fill ourselves with worldly and unworldly beliefs. There is little faith behind a society who does not have the ability to choose its own unworldly beliefs. Being spoon-fed from birth by my Orthodox Baptist parents, I rode my own spirit into the arms of God and the ways of Christianity. Faith may guide many a man and his heart, but freedom guides the soul. No one knows the truth concerning God, religion, or existence, but the freedom to seek the truth ike I have has made me whole. Without freedom I would still place myself higher than everything else and perceive myself as my own master. This provincial nature that the world commercializes I once held, but it has been freed by the disuniting of my flesh and its influence upon my mind, soul, and heart. Freedom is too immense a concept to comprehend yet too narrow a word to define, but it drives me. Without it I become dark and meek as I look to the cold earth for heavenly answers. Freedom is there for anyone even slaves. The light needs but to be turned on and ignorance can do nothing but flee.

China One Child Policy Facts

China One Child Policy Facts For more than 35 years, Chinas one-child policy  limited the countrys population growth. It ended after 2015, as Chinas demographics had been skewed due to the policy. China does not have enough  young people to support the aging demographics, and due to a preference for boys, men of marrying age outnumber women. In all, there were more than 33 million men than women in China in 2016, making it difficult for men of lower socioeconomic status to marry at all. After 2024, India is expected to become the worlds most populous, when both countries populations are expected to reach about 1.4 billion. Chinas population is forecast to be stable and then decline slightly after 2030, and India will keep growing. The Background Chinas one-child rule was created in 1979 by Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping to temporarily limit communist Chinas population growth. It was in place until January 1, 2016.  When the  one-child  policy was adopted in 1979, Chinas population was about 972 million people.  China was expected to achieve  zero population growth  by 2000, but it actually achieved that seven years earlier.   Whom It Affected Chinas one-child policy most strictly applied to Han Chinese living in urban areas of the country. It did not apply to ethnic minorities throughout the country. Han Chinese represented more than 91 percent  of the Chinese population. Just over 51 percent of Chinas population lived in urban areas. In rural areas, Han Chinese families could apply to have a second child if the first child was a girl. For families who observed the  one-child  rule, there were rewards: higher wages, better schooling and employment, and preferential treatment in obtaining governmental assistance (such as health care) and loans. For families who violated the  one-child  policy, there were sanctions: fines, wage cuts, employment termination, and difficulty in obtaining governmental assistance. Families who  were permitted to have a second child usually had to wait from three to four years after the birth of the first child before conceiving their second child. The Exception to the Rule One major exception to the one-child rule  allowed two singleton children (the only offspring of their parents) to marry and have two children. Additionally, if a first child was born with birth defects or major health problems, the couple was usually permitted to have a second child. The Long-Term Fallout   In 2015 China had an estimated 150 million single-child families with an estimated two-thirds of those thought to be a direct result of the policy. Chinas sex ratio at birth is more imbalanced than the global average. There are about 113 boys born in China for every 100 girls. While some of this ratio might be biological (the global population ratio is currently about 107 boys born for every 100 girls), there is evidence of sex-selective abortion, neglect, abandonment, and even infanticide of infant females. The recent peak total fertility rate for Chinese women was in the late 1960s, when it was 5.91 in 1966 and 1967. When the one-child rule was first imposed, the total fertility rate of Chinese women was 2.91 in 1978. In 2015, the total fertility rate had dropped to 1.6 children per woman, well below the replacement value of 2.1. (Immigration accounts for the remainder of the Chinese population growth rate.)

Kudler Fine Foods Commitment Orientation

Kudler Fine Foods Commitment Orientation Free Online Research Papers â€Å"Strategic competitiveness can be attained only when the firm’s selected structure is congruent with its formulated strategy† (Gomez-Mejia et al., Chapter 7, pg 28). Kudler Fine Foods continues to manifest growth based on Mrs. Kudler’s original vision of a one stop gourmet food store. Having direct control over hiring, ordering and customer service, she has built the company into an expanding entity. The following is a discussion of strategy implementation, technology and opportunities, strategic recommendations and external forces to be aware of. Most growing companies have used information technologies (IT) to enhance operations and improve customer service. Mrs. Kudler has plans to add to the inventory and ordering automation by introducing new e-commerce capabilities and an online catering link (Kudler Fine Foods Portal, Strategic Plan, pgs 15-16). Strategic Information Systems have the ability to amplify strengths into potential sustainable competitive advantage. For example, British Airways implemented customer service online and self checking at the airports. Though the restructuring effected employee morale due to job loss, the company increased in efficiency and cost leadership. Mrs. Kudler is known for her kindness and generosity to employees, so the company will only prosper with new IT applications. Two main approaches of Strategic Information Systems are mostly used: inwardly focused and outwardly focused. An inwardly focused system is â€Å"focused on enhancing the competitive position of the firm by increasing employees’ productivity, improving teamwork and enhancing communication† (Turban et al., Chapter 13, pg 3). Companies that develop a unifying strategic theme aligned with business unit activities have more of a chance of survival than the mirroring or boom and bust type companies. Thanks to new technology, the internal workings of Kudler Fine Foods can be optimized far beyond the owner’s initial vision. For example, the new website and inventory/ordering automation will allow cash flows to be directed towards geographic expansion instead of traditional operations functions. Outwardly focused technology applications will help Kudler Fine Foods assess the external environment in the gourmet industry. â€Å"Such activities to gather information on competitors are part of competitive intelligence† (Turban et al., Chapter 13, pg 4). Knowledge of other products in demand will help Mrs. Kudler forecast changes and additions needed to remain current with the consumers she maintains. Additionally, developing an awareness of trends occurring will prepare for unpredicted threats to the organizational expansion plans. A strong example is how Frito Lay collects field data from all over the U.S. to assess inventory and product popularity. Common competitive intelligence information used is found on internet newsgroups, store websites, financial statements at the SEC (Securities Exchange Commission), customer input and professional research companies (Turban, Chapter 13, pg 5). Kudler Strategy Developing sustainable competitive advantage requires strategic awareness of how and what a company should focus on. The response strategies that Michael E Porter (and other scholars) has termed are very useful in describing Kudler Fine Foods. Due to the careful attention Mrs. Kudler has given to the company, she exhibits a combination of differentiation, focus and cost leadership. In addition, response strategies such as growth, internal efficiency and customer orientation are also identifiable. â€Å"Kudler Fine Foods is committed to providing our customers with the finest selection of the very best foods and wines so that our culinary visions can come true† (Kudler Fine Foods Portal, Strategic Plan, pg 1). The salient qualities of Mrs. Kudler’s products show differentiation, the commitment to gourmet foods displays focus and new plans to buy direct from local growers will achieve cost leadership. New store locations (growth), information technology applications (int ernal efficiency) and special ordering (customer oriented) are examples of the added response strategies (Turban et al., Chapter 13, pgs 7-8). When Mrs. Kudler found that her community grocery store did not carry the products she needed for her own cooking, the company was born. Vision created Kudler Fine Foods, and this is the main reason that business activities continue to be improved every quarter. The central theme becomes part of the company structure as it expands. Now bakery goods are guaranteed fresh or they are free, special orders are taken, the store promises the freshest of organic meats and seafood, gourmet cheeses are stocked, and also an extensive wine inventory. Reliance on strong customer relationships supported by efficient information technology will hopefully, guarantee the company’s future. â€Å"Success is getting the right customers and keeping them† (Gomez-Mejia et al., Chapter 7, pg 28). Not only is growth important to Mrs. Kudler, she believes in satisfying the customer value chain. â€Å"Strategic management involves the major decisions, business choices, and actions that chart the course of the entire enterprise† (Gomez-Mejia et al., Chapter 7, pg 3). The success of Kudler Fine Foods has much to do with Mrs. Kudler’s effective leadership that inspires employee motivation. Her monthly operations meetings are very democratic which re-enforces transactional/relational bonds with employees. This is very important to the company, because staff members respond best to empowerment and support. By including management in product sampling at all the meetings, Kathy Kudler addresses staff needs that translate into proactive behavior and better results. Tactics to Realize Strategy Developing as a company that will sustain requires an understanding of strategic formulation and implementation. Primary to any strategy is a strong mission statement to define functions of the organization. Ideally, the overarching theme will connect through processes and lead to the completion of enterprise objectives. Kathy Kudler has grown the business because she has transformed her thoughts into a structure that produces returns. â€Å"Strategic intent is internally focused, indicating how the firm tends to use its resources, capabilities and core competencies to win competitive battles†¦strategic mission flows from strategic intent, defining its external focus in terms of what the firm plans to produce and market, utilizing the firm’s internally based core competence† (Gomez-Mejia, Chapter 7, pg 22).Establishing tactics for Mrs. Kudler to formulate successfully and implement her plans must include efficient resource allocation, cost leadership, differentia tion and focus. How the company decides to manifest these strategies, and the combination there of, will decide the future of the company. Suppose that another organization similar to Kudler Fine Foods arrives near to one of her locations. Depending on how sharp management is regarding optimal strategy combinations, the new rival store could decrease Mrs. Kudler’s market share. In this competitive world, one never knows when a developer will hire the best strategists, analyze the gourmet food market and construct an impeccable gourmet store business plan for Orange County. This could devastate the Kudler customer base. Therefore, Mrs. Kudler can mitigate this possible scenario by actively assessing the strength of her advantages and weaknesses in strategy. â€Å"Each generic strategy is vulnerable to different types of attacks† (Porter, Competitive Advantage, pg 21). So often businesses favor cost leadership, which easily loses market share due to lack of differentiation. Management must always remember that efficiency is not gong to achieve competitive advantage alone, but must be married to strategy. Therefore, Mrs. Kudler should consistently remind employees that the consumers are loyal due to her rare/high quality products, customer service and relatively low cost. For now, this is sufficient for her to sustain. Preparing for the future survival of the company, however, requires careful analysis and internal evaluation of how various differentiation concepts will establish loyalty connecting to the customer’s family orientation. Kudler Fine Foods is focused on the gourmet chef, however, will have to formulate and implement ways to secure customers by becoming a part of their lives. Kudler Competitive Awareness As mentioned in the first section of this paper, Strategic Information Systems are more frequently used to enhance a company’s competitive situation. â€Å"Research indicates that the percentage of companies using IT to support competitive intelligence increased from 31 percent in 1993 to about 50 percent in 1999† (Turban et al., Chapter 13, pg 5). The internet has become a powerful strategic tool for organizations to gather data on rival companies. While information technology exponentially grows in the world today, Kudler Fine Foods should take advantage of applications for more informed strategic decisions. An effective way for Mrs. Kudler to update her processes of analysis is to hire an experienced person trained in competitive intelligence IT applications. The company only has 2 computer support technicians on staff meant to solve tech problems. In order to function in this fast pace, constantly changing world, she will need to add competent analysts. Confronting un-predictable competition through active internal business intelligence should always bring hope to an organization’s stability. Conclusion The central point of this paper was to discuss the necessity for commitment orientation when deciding on formulation and implementation strategies. â€Å"In reality, strategy formulation and implementation are two sides of the same coin† (Gomez-Mejia et al., Chapter 7, pg 28). Mrs. Kudler’s company has a brilliant chance of continuing the positive cash flow it has been earning. All the organization has to do is accept the fact that strategy combinations and information technology is essential in updating and securing substantial returns. Mrs. Kudler will succeed by creating a connection between the store products/cooking ware and the consumer’s lives. This will help develop the sought after sustainable competitive advantage.
